Happy Valentine's Day!
The holiday shipping season was a smooth one at the airport and seaport. CBP inspectors did a great job as the average response time from requests was one hour and 21 minutes! This was made possible by the work that AFIA does with CBP to make sure we have additional inspectors for the increased holiday volumes.
If pests were found, USDA officers did a great job in getting the pests identified in a timely manner.
Then if flowers needed to be fumigated, because of the work AFIA has been doing with CBP and USDA, the products were able to move to fumigation much quicker.
Below please find the numbers for pest interceptions for January and the seaport volume for the Valentine's season. The numbers for the airport will be available next week.
