Tariff Threats

Fortunately, we were able to avoid the proposed tariffs that President Trump wanted to impose on Colombian products due to the situation on Sunday.  Providing responses and information to the members right away when faced with a crisis is a big benefit of being a member of the association.

Christine was a guest on the BBC Radio show on Monday to talk about the proposed tariffs and how it would have impacted the US flower business.

President Trump announced this afternoon that he is going to impose 25% tariffs on products from Canada and Mexico starting March 1st if the countries do not halt the flow of illegal immigrants and fentanyl across the US border.

GSP Update

Now that the new administration is in DC, we have been reaching out to many of the important offices to identify what the path could be to get the renewal of GSP done.  President Trump is focused on his campaign promises and has been working on those since taking office.  We will continue to push for the passage of this important program.

Miami Dade County Economic Development Partners Meeting

Christine was invited to attend the Miami Dade County Economic Development Partners Meeting which is a very important group of agencies and partners that work together on ways to make things better for the businesses in South Florida.  Christine gave an update on situation from Sunday and how it would have impacted the flower industry if it would have been implemented, talked about things that are pain points for the flower industry and possible things that could benefit the flower industry.
