AFIA Executive Vice President Christine Boldt participated in a Valentine’s shipping media day last Friday at Miami International Airport in partnership with the airport, Avianca Cargo, and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).
The event brought together multiple media outlets to highlight the Valentine’s shipping season and the coordination required across the floral import supply chain.
Miami International Airport (MIA) reported that import volumes were 13% higher than the 2025 Valentine’s season. Avianca Cargo also reported an increase in shipments compared to 2025.
The seaport has similarly reported higher 2026 volumes compared to 2025, including a significant increase in containers arriving from Ecuador.
During the Valentine’s shipping season, CBP’s average response time for inspections has been approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes, helping ensure the timely movement of flowers through the port of entry.
