In a significant legal development, the U.S. Court of International Trade ruled that the tariffs imposed by former President Trump in February and April are unconstitutional and therefore blocked.
The tariffs in question affected a broad range of imports from multiple countries, including products impacting the floral industry. While the ruling represents a major shift, the situation remains fluid. The Administration has already appealed the decision and has requested that the tariffs remain in place throughout the appeals process.
Unfortunately, this means tariffs will still be collected for the time being, and the court did not order refunds to be issued to importers.
As with many legal matters, the appeals process may take time. It is not yet clear whether the case will be fast-tracked or when a final resolution will be reached.
AFIA will continue to monitor this closely and provide timely updates as more information becomes available.
📢 Stay informed — we’ll keep you posted on what this means for floral importers and the broader industry.
