The United States and the Republic of Ecuador have substantially concluded negotiations for an Agreement on Reciprocal Trade (ART), with both countries expecting to sign the agreement in the coming weeks. The announcement was made on February 13, 2026, marking an important development for bilateral trade relations.
In recent weeks, AFIA leadership has been in communication with Congressman Mario Díaz-Balart’s office regarding the importance of advancing a trade agreement with Ecuador.
Conversations this week with Congressman Díaz-Balart confirmed that he has also spoken with Ambassador Greer about the potential agreement and its significance for the United States, Ecuador, and industries that depend on strong trade relationships — including the flower import sector.
If finalized, the agreement is expected to create a new platform for economic cooperation, helping to expand and diversify bilateral trade and investment between the two countries for their mutual benefit.
For the floral import industry, Ecuador remains one of the most important partners in the global supply chain. Continued collaboration between governments, industry leaders, and trade representatives is essential to maintaining reliable access to fresh flowers while supporting growers, importers, and consumers across both nations.
AFIA will continue to monitor developments and share additional details as they become available.
