Tariff Update: A Potential Boost for the Cut Flower Industry

Last Friday, the Trump Administration issued an important update regarding reciprocal tariffs, which could have significant implications for the floral industry.

Included in the update were two attachments: Annex 11 and Annex 111. Of particular interest is Annex 111, which lists products that could be considered for lower or even zero tariffs in the future—if the respective countries collaborate with the U.S. on trade relations.

This list focuses on items that are either not produced in the U.S. or not produced in sufficient quantities to meet domestic demand. Cut flowers are included on this list, which is very promising news for the industry.

AFIA is hopeful that the Administration will work with countries like Colombia, Ecuador, Costa Rica, and Guatemala to secure exemptions on flowers. Such action could enhance trade opportunities and help keep the floral supply chain strong and competitive.

We’ll continue to monitor this situation closely and share updates as they become available.
