Tariff Refunds Update: Phase 1 of CBP CAPE System Launches April 20

The process for tariff refunds is beginning to take shape.
Following recent developments, U.S. Customs and Border Protection will activate Phase 1 of the CAPE (CBP Automated Processing Environment) system on Monday, April 20 at 8:00 AM.
This marks the first step for importers seeking refunds related to IEEPA tariffs.
What You Need to Know
Who can file:
Importers of Record or their customs brokers
Where to file:
Through the ACE portal, using the CAPE tab
(This is currently the only method available)
What’s required:
Entry numbers must be submitted via the portal form
Up to 9,999 entries per declaration
What to Expect During the Process:
Submissions will be reviewed quickly upon entry
If there are issues with entry numbers:
A rejection or notification will be issued
Once processed:
Entries will be reviewed and liquidated
Refunds will be issued accordingly
Refund Details:
Interest will be paid on approved entries
Refunds will be:
Consolidated per broker or Importer of Record
Issued via ACH accounts linked in the ACE system
Timeline:
Refunds are expected within 60–90 days after approval

At this time: There is no confirmed date for Phase 2 of the refund process
