AFIA’s Executive Vice President, Christine Boldt, recently participated in a meeting with the Ecuadorian Ambassador, the U.S. Department of Commerce, and several businesses with significant commercial ties to Ecuador.
The discussion focused on the importance of moving forward with a permanent agreement to reduce duties on products from Ecuador. Such an agreement would strengthen trade relationships and benefit U.S. consumers.
Christine emphasized the vital role of Ecuadorian flowers—especially roses—in the U.S. market. She noted that the U.S. does not have the domestic capacity to produce the volume and quality of flowers that consumers demand, making Ecuador a critical partner in sustaining supply.
The meeting was very positive, with productive dialogue on the mutual benefits of reducing trade barriers. AFIA is hopeful that both administrations will work together toward a long-term solution that supports business growth, consumer access, and stronger U.S.–Ecuador relations.
