🌸AFIA Represents the Flower Industry at House Hearing on Labor Rights in the Cut Flower Industry (Washington, D.C.)

On June 5th, Christine Boldt, Executive Vice President of the Association of Floral Importers of America (AFIA), traveled to Washington, D.C. to testify on behalf of the flower industry at the House Committee Hearing: Promoting Labor Rights in the Cut Flower Industry.

Originally, the hearing was set to proceed without any representation from the flower industry. Thanks to Christine’s persistence and dialogue with the Committee’s Co-Chairs, AFIA was included—ensuring the industry’s voice was heard.

Christine joined an expert panel that included:

  • Megan Styles, Associate Professor, University of Illinois, Springfield.

  • Dan Hawkins, Country Program Director, Colombia and Andean Region, Solidarity Center.

  • Allison Gill, Legal Director, Global Labor Justice.

  • Christopher Krupa, Associate Professor, University of Toronto, Scarborough.

You can read Christine’s full testimony on our website when available.
